Finding and hatching dormant eggs with simple equipment?
I just came across the term "resurrection ecology", which is a recently pioneered field of biology in which scientists will find eggs that have stayed dormant since long time ago, and hatch them, so this way they can compare 100 year old organisms with the current ones. This is usually done with small organisms, like plankton... So, I've been wondering, do you need any really specialized equipment to do this? Or how can I do it myself? Where can I find dormant eggs, and what would be the best way to hatch them? I've been thinking maybe breaking rocks and examining the debris with a microscope? But I'm not sure...
