Is it possible to have really bad allergies in one state and not in another?

ok so i lived in texas from 5-17, when i first moved there (moved from illinois) i had asthma it went away soon after and the entire time i lived there i had no problems asthma, allergies etc. last september i moved back to illinois. i was fine until january then i got a cold which developed into bronchitis, after recovering from the bronchitis am still short of breath all the time dr. says i have asthma, have allergies, also have had four sinus infections in 3 months. i am completely miserable all the time. could it be caused by something different in the air here that im allergic to?
